Frequently Asked Questions

Which AGM chemical is right for my screen-cleaning process?

The right product depends on the stage of cleaning and the problem you are trying to solve. Some AGM products are designed for removing ink during colour changes or post-press cleaning, while others are intended for stencil removal, stubborn ink degradation, haze removal or final screen preparation.

Check the product description and Technical Data Sheet for its intended application, or contact Jones Brothers for help choosing the right product for your ink type and workflow. The range includes products for general screen washing, ink degradation, stencil stripping and stain or haze removal.

Can AGM Chemicals be used with all screen-printing inks?

Compatibility varies by product. Several products within the range are designed to work with common screen-printing ink systems, including water-based, plastisol, solvent and UV-curable inks. However, each chemical has a different purpose and recommended application.

Always review the individual product information before use and test the product on your specific ink, emulsion and mesh combination when introducing it into your process.

Do AGM Chemicals need to be diluted before use?

This depends on the individual product. Some AGM products are supplied ready to use, while others require dilution or are designed for use within a dip-tank process.

Always follow the dilution ratio and application instructions listed on the product label or Technical Data Sheet. Using the correct concentration helps achieve consistent cleaning performance and prevents unnecessary chemical use. For example, AGM Golden Stripper is mixed at one part product to five parts water for dip-tank use.

What safety precautions should I take when using AGM Chemicals?

Wear solvent-resistant gloves and safety goggles while handling and applying AGM cleaning chemicals. Products should also be used in a well-ventilated workspace.

Read the product label, Technical Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet before use, and follow your workplace’s chemical-handling and disposal procedures. Even products formulated with lower-VOC or more environmentally conscious ingredients should still be handled as professional cleaning chemicals.

Should I test the product before introducing it into production?

Yes. Ink systems, emulsions, mesh conditions, dwell times and cleaning equipment can vary between print shops. AGM recommends conducting your own testing to confirm that the product performs effectively within your specific process.

Start with a small test area or an old screen, follow the recommended application instructions, and adjust the dwell time only where the Technical Data Sheet allows it.

Powerful. Responsible. AGM.
